In this thirty-second Netflix YouTube commercial, the concept of bringing up “the old days”, before any kind of service such as Netflix existed. We based it off the old video advertising cliche “’50’s cathode ray tube television showing grainy footage and corny piano music” way of showing how things were “back then”, but totally revamped it. Now equipped with a sexy drone and a Maya-rendered environment, public domain archive footage was edited into a quick narrative before going into a much more lively second-half sell. All the Netflix-compatible devices at the end (Wii, PS3, Xbox, iPad and iPhone) were rendered and animated in Maya in-house.
